Campion AFC are delighted to announce that Lee Ashforth has signed a new two-year contract with the club, keeping him at the Red & Blacks until the end of the 2027/28 season.

Lee has been an integral part of Campion’s rise and continued success, guiding the club to the NCEL Division One title and West Riding Senior County Cup during the 2022/23 campaign, before securing an impressive second-place finish in the club’s first-ever season at Step 5.

Speaking on his new deal, Lee said:

“I have been delighted to be at Campion for seven seasons, during which we’ve achieved great success and continued progression.

The club and its committee have backed me 100% and never wavered throughout that time, which is quite unusual at Step 5 of the football pyramid.

Earlier this season, I was offered a contract but felt the timing wasn’t right as we focused on performances on the pitch. I’m now delighted that the club has asked me to sign a new two-year deal.

Reaching the milestone of 250 games this season is something I’m very proud of, and my aim now is to surpass the 300 mark while continuing to drive improvement on the pitch, alongside the club’s ongoing hard work to develop off it.

Over the next few weeks, I will finalise the management team for the 2026/27 season and then focus on retention and recruitment to ensure we have another successful campaign.”

Preparations are already underway for the 2026/27 season, with the hard work continuing both on and off the pitch as the club looks to build on recent success.
