Campion AFC make the short trip to Liversedge this weekend in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division, as they take on the current league leaders in what promises to be another thrilling West Yorkshire clash.

Following Tuesday night’s dramatic 2-2 draw away at Sheffield FC, Campion will be hoping to build on that spirited performance and show the same character that saw them come from two goals down to rescue a well-earned point late on. Goals from Ewan Gregson and Paddy Sykes highlighted the team’s never-say-die attitude and determination to compete with some of the league’s strongest sides.

Saturday’s opponents, Liversedge, have been in fine form so far this season and currently sit top of the NCEL Premier Division table. The Clayborn Ground has been a tough place for visiting sides this campaign, and Campion will need to be at their best to come away with a result.

There’s extra motivation for the visitors ahead of this one, as the last time these two sides met came in the 2022/23 West Riding County Cup Final, where Aidan Day scored a sensational goal in a memorable 2-1 Campion victory. That triumph will still be fresh in the minds of many players and supporters as the two teams prepare to do battle once again.

New signing Corey Billy impressed on debut against Sheffield and will be hoping to continue that form, while manager Lee Ashforth will once again be able to call on a strong and spirited squad as Campion look to climb the table.
