Campion AFC make the short trip to Dennyfield on Saturday afternoon for their second Bradford derby of the week, hoping to build on Tuesday evening’s impressive 4-3 victory over Albion Sports.

The Red and Blacks currently sit seventh in the NCEL Premier Division, having collected ten points from their opening six league fixtures, and will be looking to continue their positive start to the campaign.

Standing in their way are a Thackley AFC side still searching for their first league victory of the season. The hosts currently occupy 19th place, with four points from seven games, but their league position certainly doesn't tell the full story.

Thackley have already demonstrated their ability to fight until the very end this season and have earned a reputation as something of a comeback kings.

Last Saturday, they found themselves 3-1 down against Handsworth, only to score twice in injury time and rescue a dramatic 3-3 draw. Then, in midweek, they once again had to fight back from two goals behind, this time away at Retford FC, eventually securing an impressive 2-2 draw against tough opposition.

Campion will therefore be fully aware that the game is far from over, regardless of the scoreline, and will need to remain focused throughout the 90 minutes.

The visitors will also be looking to end a frustrating record at Dennyfield. Since their promotion to the NCEL Premier Division in the 2022/23 season, Campion have yet to taste victory at Thackley, a record they will be determined to put right this weekend.

Following an entertaining and hard-fought Bradford derby against Albion Sports on Tuesday, another local battle awaits, with both sides having plenty to fight for.
