Campion AFC are delighted to announce the signing of experienced midfielder Rhys Thomas from Ossett United for the 2026/27 season.
The 27-year-old, brings proven non-league pedigree, physicality, and a strong work ethic to The Anytime Couriers Stadium as we prepare for another campaign in the NCEL Premier Division.
Rhys has built an impressive career across multiple levels. Most recently, he joined Ossett United in September 2025 from Wakefield AFC, where he quickly made his mark with his energy and drive in midfield.
Before returning north, Rhys spent five years in the South West, during which he served in the Royal Marines. This period saw him feature in the Southern League for clubs including Tiverton Town and Bristol Manor Farm, gaining valuable experience in competitive semi-professional football.
His journey reflects resilience, discipline, and adaptability - qualities forged both on the pitch and through military service. A combative, box-to-box midfielder known for his aerial ability, tireless running, and leadership by example, Rhys is exactly the type of character we want in our squad.

Manager Lee Ashforth commented:
“We’re really pleased to bring Rhys to stage Anytime Couriers Stadium. He’s a strong, athletic midfielder who knows what this level is about. He’ll add competition and quality to the squad, and we’re excited to see what he can contribute as we push on next season.”
Welcome to Campion, Rhys!
Rhys will be available for pre-season friendlies as we prepare for the 2026/27 NCEL Premier Division campaign. Keep an eye out for him in the red and black!
