Campion Looking To Build on Good Start

Campion are looking to build on a good start to the season with a home tie against Glasshoughton Welfare this Saturday.

Campion are looking to consolidate and kick on from what has been a good start of the season, and a good week so far following a 3-2 victory over East Yorkshire Carnegie on Wednesday. They will welcome 19th placed Glasshoughton Welfare to Scotchman road on Saturday.

Though 19th in the league, Club Director of Football Andy Shepherd doesn’t expect an easy game against the visitors “Glasshoughton had a really good result last week and we are expecting a very tough game”. Glasshoughton won their last away game in the league, with a 3-0 victory against Dronfield Town.

New signing Luke Robinson will also be part of the match day squad and will be looking to make his debut as a Campion AFC player. He joins the club from Thackley, where he had played from a young age. Luke has stated his ambition to play a key part in Campion’s attacking line-up “I’m hoping to act as a target man for them, bringing in plenty of goals to help with the aim of winning the league”, he also acknowledges the role the manager played in getting him to sign “I think he’s (James) a really good guy and it motivates me more playing for a manager who belives in you”.
