Development Squad register final pre-season win

The development squad registered a 4-0 victory over Baildon Trinity in their final pre-season friendly before the season starts.

Played at Marley stadium on a 3G surface, the side who were missing a number of players who had been regulars during pre-season, looked composed and largely untroubled by a Baildon side which was a mix of both first and reserve team players.

Going into half time at 0-0, the deadlock was finally broken by a Trinity own goal, as Cam Green’s presence forced a mistake from the defender who slotted it home to the right of the goalkeeper. Josh Ludford who continued his rich vein of scoring form in pre-season striking a second and Matty Weldon smartly finished a third, off the back of 90 minutes with the first team. Finally Chris Hellewell broke the offside trap to tuck away a fourth.

There were encouraging signs as the side head into the league season which begins on Friday 21st Aug at Home to Wibsey.

A special mention should be given to the goalkeepers who stepped up at the last minute. Paul Davidson, following a second half performance for the First XI rushed to Marley to kindly step in as goalkeeper in the absence of Simon Elvin. And Mohsin Ali who bravely deputised for the opening five minutes of the game until Paul’s arrival.
